My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Taut thriller expanding the human touch of the characters in the Allon Series. Never disappointed but left me asking some questions about the ease with which 'The Archangel' of spying at the Mossad managed to get confessions from his hardened adversaries. Working with a tough sidekick, Gabriel Allon manages to save the day and appear more real than ever. The author chooses to make him relive the nightmare of his first wife's murder at the hands of bomber Tariq in the person of a son and mother murder by the master bomber Quinn. Allon suffers a metaphorical death and rebirth during which his first wife appears to be more lucid than ever.
Well-done but those hard guys playing by the Big Boy Rules seem to give in and confess a little too easily.
